Have you ever felt as though your heart is searching and restless? You have been going at it on the treadmill of responsibilities and, nearing burnout, perhaps you have even whispered to yourself or even to God, "I have no life." And you are asking yourself, "What am I really here for? What's it all about?"
Dear friend, Jesus knows. And He is the answer to all your questions.
Jesus often spoke about life with His disciples and with all those He taught. We find His teaching in His Word, the Bible.
Here is what He told the crowds about life —
He explained it to them: "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."
John 10:7-10 NLT
Another translation calls the life Jesus is talking about an abundant life.
How is your life these days? Do you feel as though you've lost the life you had hoped for or maybe never really achieved what you thought you would have? Or maybe you are searching and longing for abundant life.
It's found in Jesus. Dear friend, run to Jesus. Simply Jesus. He is the One you need to know and walk with every moment of the day. He will lead you into the green pasture where He will give you rest, peace, joy, and true contentment.
One day He was talking with His disciples. And He told them something very profound. He said —
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me"
John 14:6 NLT
Not only is He the way to life, He is the life!
Imagine all that you desire that you think will give you the kind of life you want. If you haven't included the Lord in your heart's desire, then you're missing it. He is the life. Jesus is always more and He is better. If you had all the money in the world, the greatest house, the most possessions, an abundance of friends, and every relationship was perfect, all of that would not compare to knowing Jesus.
So today, look away from the many things and draw near to Jesus. Remain in Him and watch Him provide you with more than you can imagine. He is the one and only way to life.
Dear Lord, Thank You for showing us that You are the way, the truth, and the life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
