I have been walking with the Lord out in the desert almost every morning these days. I always have my camera and find beauty in the bright shining sun as it rises up over the mountains in the east.
This particular morning I was taken with the brightness as the sun cast its shining glow across the desert floor. You could hardly see the details of the foliage because it was so bright.
This image of the sun makes me think about the words of Paul in Philippians 2:15-16. His words were written to the church at Philippi – this was a church that was suffering for the cause of Christ. And here was Paul’s encouragement:
Become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.
Philippians 2:15-16 NIV
Here we are, united with Christ, yet living in a world that is becoming darker and more godless with each passing day. And yet, we can shine, by living a life of obedience, reverence, submission, and purpose. Every day we have the opportunity to hold out the word of life to others. In fact, the brightness of the Lord that shines from within us speaks of the glory of God.
So I decided to take this particular photograph and make it into a photo artistry image. I processed it using Adobe Camera Raw, Topaz Software, and RadLab software. Then, I added the word Shine and the verse from Philippians.
May you be encouraged today, no matter what you are facing in life, to shine with the light of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God bless you.
Dear Lord, today may You shine brightly in us with your light in this dark world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
