Have you learned to find refuge in the Lord? … He is the place where you can run when you need help, hope, and healing.
The psalmist knew this when he said, "You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope" (Psalm 119:114 NLT).
I looked out my window and saw this beautiful monarch butterfly hiding among the leaves of a small palm tree. I immediately grabbed my Nikon D7000 camera with a 70-300mm lens and captured some images. Because it is a cropped sensor camera, I was able to have an effective focal length of 450mm allowing me to zoom in and get close.
I especially like this image because of the composition, giving me room to add a key word from Scripture including Psalm 119:114. So I chose to add some background texture with Topaz Software and created a photo artistry image.
After processing in Adobe Camera Raw, I added some texture including a paper filter from ON1 Software. Then I brought in a vector image, used a multiply blend mode, and reduced the opacity to about 50%. Then I added the text in Helvetica Neue – and voila, a reminder to run to the Lord for refuge.
So, the next time you need help from the Lord, take a lesson from this little butterfly, and run to God as your refuge and your shield. He is faithful to give you everything you need in every circumstance of life.
Lord, thank You for the lesson of this little butterfly. Today I run to You as my refuge and my shield. In Jesus' name, Amen.
