Does your soul need refreshing today? There is nothing so refreshing as powerful teaching from the Word of God. It will fall on your heart like dew on fresh grass. And it will refresh your soul.
That's what Moses said in these words: "Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants" (Deuteronomy 32:2 NLT). He goes on to talk about how his teaching proclaims the name of the Lord and how He is our faithful God. Powerful teaching from the Word always includes the character of God — who He is, what He does, and what He says.
As I sat on a veranda overlooking a beautiful golf course sipping an early morning coffee, I saw thousands of dew drops suddenly glisten as light from a rising sun washed the blanket of grass. I grabbed my Sony A6000 and brought the camera down to ground level to catch the light sparkling the dew. I actually tilted the LCD so I could see what I was shooting since I couldn't get that low to look through the viewfinder. After several tries, I got an image that I love.
I processed the image in Adobe Camera Raw, then brought it into Adobe Photoshop. I decided to add a Topaz Impression Georgia O'Keefe filter at 70% to give it a painterly look. Then I added the title "Refresh" in Helvetica Neue and the verse from Deuteronomy 32:2 NLT.
If you find yourself in need of refreshing, turn to the Word of God, and God's light will glisten the recesses of your heart. Your heart will be revived and your soul refreshed.
Lord, refresh my heart with Your Word today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
