Sometimes we need to be reminded that we are not alone. We may be on a particular road in life where we cannot see what is up ahead. In fact, we may not even know which way to go.
The most important truth to remember is — Jesus is with you. One of the last things He promised His disciples is, "Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20 NLT).
Oh, those are such happy words for us today. You are not alone! In the midst of uncertainty and insecurity, you can know that Jesus is with you. The comfort is found in His presence because of who He is, what He does, and all that He promises in His Word. The same Jesus you read about in the Bible is the Jesus who is with you now. He can walk on water, calm the storm, and heal the blind. He is the One who created you. He loves you so much He died for you so that you can be forgiven of your sins and be with Him forever in heaven.
Jesus also promises you, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 ESV).
Our translation does not convey the full force of the original. It is hardly possible in English to give the full weight of the Greek. We might freely translate it, "He has said, I will never, never, never, leave you; I will never, never, never forsake you" (Heb. 13:5). Put a traveler in a vast howling wilderness, where there is no trace of man, no footstep of a traveler. The solitary wretch cries for help, and the hollow echo of the rocks is his only reply. No bird in the air, not even a prowling jackal in the waste or a solitary blade of grass to remind him of God. Yet, even there he is not alone.

My husband and I had the great privilege to take a horseback trail ride through the vineyards of Principe Corsini Villa Le Corti, Val Di Pesa, Florence, Tuscany, Italy. There were many turns in the path as we wound our way up hills and down into valleys through this beautiful Tuscan landscape. I was never once afraid even though I really had no idea where we were going. I had confidence in both the guides who were leading us and also the horse that knew its way along the path. So I could trust in the midst of our journey and enjoy the beauty of the trees there in Tuscany.
Just think about Jesus standing there with you in the middle of your pathway in life, with all of its seeming uncertainty and insecurity, saying to you, "I will never, never, never leave you; I will never, never, never forsake you." With those words come a new peace even in a difficult situation. The Lord knows what is ahead. And He is not wondering what to do. You can trust Him every step of the way as He leads you. Just fix your eyes on Him, hear Him as He speaks, and grow more intimate with Him along the way. Oh what joy there is in knowing Him!
So today, dear friend, wherever you are, take comfort in knowing that Jesus is with you.
