One of my favorite places to sit with the Lord is a beautiful rose garden in Newport Beach, California. I love the roses. There is something so calming for me to look at the intricacies of a delicate rose. I love how the petals of a rose uniquely form and develop as they grow. I love every stage of a rose as it opens, all the way from a rosebud to one in full bloom.
As I sat in this rose garden one morning, I noticed these beautiful roses cascading down and around a cupola. The roses were delicate and flourishing, reaching to the sky. And yet they hugged the solid structure of architecture in that garden as if for security.
We are like those roses with our Lord. He causes us to flourish and grow as we stay close to Him. He invites us to intimate communion —
Come away with me by yourselves to a quiet place and rest a little while.

I love these words from the hymn by Charles A. Miles and they perfectly describe how much I love my times with the Lord in the rose garden —
I come to the garden alone, While the dew is still on the roses, And the voice I hear falling on my ear The Son of God discloses. So today, dear friend, take some time to be alone with your Lord, and enjoy His company as He walks and talks with you.
Dear Lord, thank You for those intimate times of communion alone with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
