Have you learned that you don't really need to worry? You can leave panic and anxiety outside the door and instead let peace and joy into your house. Why? Because God has got you covered. He knows the whole situation and He has a plan. He also has a purpose for your life.
Now if I could just live in light of this truth every moment of my life.
Jesus talked about this when He gave His Sermon on the Mount. He said —
Do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
Matthew 6:25-27
I especially love how Jesus points to the birds and how the Lord feeds them. They don't need to sow or reap or gather and save food. And still they have more than enough to eat from the Lord.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon speaks of this of trust —
Yesterday I looked at some birds in a cage. These poor little creatures are entirely dependent on those who feed them. They cannot help themselves. If seed and water is not supplied, they will die. Yet there they sit and sing with all their might. Their state of dependence never distresses them. They never think that their keeper will fail them. That is my position. I am God's singing bird. Perhaps I wonder where I shall get my bread or my next sermons, and a great many cares and troubles come to me. But why should I be troubled? Instead of mistrusting my keeper, who has fed me these many years, I had best sit and sing as loudly as I can. That is the best thing to do. The birds do it, so why not you and me?
Charles Haddon Spurgeon in Beside Still Waters
I think we all need to be God's singing birds seemingly without a care in the world. Why? Because God has us covered. He is going to provide for us. He promises. And our state of dependence on God should never distress us. No, instead we sing knowing we belong to the Lord and we are His. He will take care of us.
So, dear friend, leave worry at the door. Let peace and joy come in.
Lord, thank You that You know our needs today and still You say to us that we don't need to be worried about our life. We take You at Your word. Thank you dear Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
