I live in California's Mojave desert near the fashionable resort city of Palm Springs, the San Bernardino Mountains to the north, the Santa Rosa Mountains to the south, the San Jacinto Mountains to the west, and the Little San Bernardino Mountains to the east.
It is a deceptively exotic and beautiful environment. The more you see it, the more you love it. And I have learned many lessons as I walk with the Lord and gaze at the beauty of these landscapes. I love especially looking at the views through the lens of my camera on long myPhotoWalk adventures.
This posted image is taken with my very first DSLR — a gift from my husband — the Nikon D7000. I still shoot with this camera sometimes as I love how it singularly captures images of God's creation.
So there I was out in the desert getting ready for the rising of the supermoon. I elected to use the Nikon D7000 as it is a cropped sensor camera and gives me more reach with my lenses. There was something special in how the light was at the golden hour this particular evening. So I captured many images before the moon even made an appearance. I processed this particular image in Adobe Camera Raw, then applied an Alienskin Cinema filter to bring out the dynamic range. By the way, the Alienskin plugins for Photoshop are hands–down amazing. They are my go–to filters for adding a vintage look to my images or bringing out the beauty of the light. I think I could spend a day just experimenting with my image processing in Alienskin and Photoshop alone!
As I look at this image in particular, I think about the words of the Lord in Isaiah 43:19 where He says "I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." Those words are such an encouragement for any who may be facing a desert experience right now. You can know that God will make a way through for you. Even if you can't see any way through in your situation, God will make a way. He promises.
So be encouraged, dear friend, and trust God for the way through in every circumstance of life.
Lord, thank You for always making a way through every impossible situation and every desert place. In Jesus' name, Amen.
