Freedom In Christ

A Quiet Time Moment

Have you ever watched a butterfly as it flutters about with its colorful wings? Have you noticed how freely a butterfly glides from one flowering plant to another seeming to enjoy the moment wherever it lands?

I recently captured an image of a butterfly resting on a green leaf with wings about to spread as it readied itself to fly.

I thought, "This is what it looks like to be free — free to fly. Not being oppressed or held captive."

You are like that beautiful butterfly, dear friend. You have been set free by Christ.

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul describes how Christ set us free —

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

Colossians 1:13

According to Galatians 5:1 "it was for freedom that Christ set us free." The Lord Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death and there no longer is any condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8). We are free and empowered through the Holy Spirit to walk in His love and grace.

You can know, beloved friend, that you are "God's masterpiece" (Ephesians 2:10 NLT). He has created you anew in Christ Jesus so you can do the good things He planned for you long ago.

Be encouraged with these words about our freedom by Charles Haddon Spurgeon —

Thou art free to all that is treasured up in Christ—wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. It matters not what thy need is, for there is fulness of supply in Christ, and it is there for thee. O what a "freedom" is thine! freedom from condemnation, freedom to the promises, freedom to the throne of grace, and at last freedom to enter heaven!

Charles Haddon Spurgeon in Morning and Evening

So dear friend, whenever you see a beautiful butterfly, always think about how the Lord has rescued you and how you are now free in Christ.

Lord, today we thank You for setting us free. Thank you for rescuing us and for the hope You give us every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings ♡ Grace
