During certain years, we have experienced times when the wildflowers were in full bloom here in the California desert. In those times, I could not resist grabbing my Fuji XT-2 camera and my lenses and search out one of my favorite places for the wildflowers – less than a mile from my home.
Of all the images I captured during those times, the one with the fence caught my eye. I absolutely love how the near view is in focus and there is a slight bokeh in the distance giving it a soft blur. And yet, you can still get an idea of flowers and foliage in the far–off landscape.
This image reminds me of how it is for us who know the Lord. We have the hope of eternal life and carry its promise with us during our time here on earth.
Paul spoke of our hope in Philippians 3:20 —
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 3:20
In this one verse, we are able to look beyond the here and now all the way to eternity. We are citizens of heaven. In heaven everything is different. In fact, everything is brand new. God "will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
Do you need this hope today, dear friend? Then I encourage you to take some time to look beyond the here and now, through the fence to the beauty in the distance. Soon we shall all we be walking past the here and now and enjoying those beautiful landscapes where the flowers are as we have never seen them before.
Oh yes, and we shall see the face of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Oh what a day that will be. I am eagerly waiting for that day.
So today, may the hope of God's promises bring joy and peace to your heart.
Dear Lord, thank You for the hope of eternity and our citizenship in heaven. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Blessings ♡ Grace
