What if God has something new He wants to do in your life? Are you ready for it? Will you even notice as He unfolds His work in the next season?
The truth is that God is always at work. According to Philippians 1:6 "God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." This is an amazing promise about the ongoing, yet sometimes unseen and unnoticed, work of God in your life.
At the end of every year I ask the Lord for a word and a verse for the upcoming year. My word I chose one year was "new" and my verse was Isaiah 43:19 —
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 NLT
One thing I love about this verse is that the "new" includes God making a pathway through the wilderness. I look to Him even now for His leading and guidance in the wilderness of the world. He is faithful and I trust Him though I do not always see how He will accomplish all that concerns me. I have the promise that He will (Psalm 138:8) and that's enough for me.
I love the words of the Message for Isaiah 43:19 — "Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new. It's bursting out! Don't you see it? There it is! I'm making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands."
I take this encouragement from those words — I always need to be alert and be present keeping my eyes open for the new thing God is doing as His plan unfolds in my life. I look forward to experiencing God more and more in the days to come.
So dear friend, may you look forward to seeing God at work, doing a new thing in your life, in the days to come.
Dear Lord, thank You for the promise of the new things in our lives as you make a pathway through the wilderness and a road in the desert. In Jesus' name, Amen.
