Do you have questions about your life path? Has a storm come your way that seems overwhelming just about now? And maybe you are wondering if you took a wrong turn and you are feeling a bit lost. So you have been thinking through every detail and have been trying to figure it all out.
What if I had done this? Things would have been different. Why didn't this happen? It would have taken my life in a much better direction.
Is that the way you've been thinking?
What if, what if, what if …
Dear friend, take a time out and drink in some truth from God's Word to calm your anxious heart.
Here's what the Lord says —
"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT
There's one thing you can know. God has thoughts in His mind that you have not yet imagined. You are thinking one thing and He is thinking something so much more. And whatever you imagined for your ways — your life — your direction — can't compare to God's ways and thoughts. Sometimes His ways will seem a mystery. What if you are exactly where He wants you even when you don't understand? And what if the times when you've taken a wrong turn do not mean the end of everything? What if grace promises a new day and you can turn to the Lord and experience His ways and works in your life (see 1 John 1:9 and 2 Peter 3:18).
God has a plan. If you know and love Him, you can count on the fact that He promises to direct your steps and that He delights in every detail of your life (Psalm 37:23). You can also count on the fact that He promises to accomplish what concerns you (Psalm 138:8) and that your times are in His hands (Psalm 31:15). God is at work and though you may not see how He is weaving His plan in your life. He can be trusted!
So trust Him, dear friend. Look at Him, not the clouds. Remember His mighty ways and works. He is your God who is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
Pray the prayer of Moses in Exodus 33:13 — "Let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight."
I had walked for twenty minutes down a sandy path to the edge of a treacherous cliff. I gasped in awe at the magnificent design in front of me. Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meandering flow of the Colorado River located near Page, Arizona. When you gaze upon this wondrous view, you can't help but acknowledge the amazing creativity and plan of God. No human being can dream up or design such beauty. And so it is in our lives. God is able and He can be trusted even in the complicated and confusing times of your life.
These words from Isaiah remind us of God's care and concern, His power and plan, and His greatness and glory —
He will feed His flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in His arms, holding them close to His heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. Who else has held the oceans in His hand? Who has measured off the heavens with His fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to give Him advice or teach Him? Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice? Does He need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach Him what is right or show Him the path of justice? No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand.
Isaiah 40:11-15 NLT
So today, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Heaven will tell the whole story and we will bow in worship and awe at the magnificent ways of the Lord as He carries out His plan in our lives.
Dear Lord, we draw near to You today and ask you to guide us on the right paths. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Blessings ♡ Grace
