The Proof Of His Promise

A Walk In Grace

I was out very early one morning in search for the perfect cup of Starbucks coffee. No planned photo shoot. No Nikon D810. No Nikon D7000. Not even my handy Sony A6000 which is light enough to take with me always and everywhere. Well, almost always.

As I started the drive back home, steaming Starbucks Cafe Verona in hand, I entered our neighborhood and there before my eyes was something that just took my breath away. The truly most amazing, beautiful, fantastic rainbow ever. I mean, ever! The rainbow literally stretched straight from the ground to the farthest reaches of the sky hovering tantalizingly among heavy rain clouds and glittering filtered sunlight.

And all I had was my iPhone 6 with limited 8MP camera capability, no fancy buttons to adjust, and no mega lenses. Me. Who loves my cameras. And drags them even to a romantic dinner with my husband just in case there's a National Geographic image to be captured. So once again, it is true. The best camera is the one you have with you.

Well, it was indeed an academy award winning sunrise. So I was not going to miss capturing it. So I stopped, and yes, with my iPhone 6, captured bunches of images.

When God paints the sky, His beauty makes you stand in awe and wonder.

Lord, I give you a standing ovation.

Rainbows are caused by reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky, and always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun, often when there is a misty rain, the light of the sun shining through the clouds.

But here is what was so amazing to me. Literally, this is the most incredible and once in a life time rainbow I think I will ever see. And this week, it was the story of Noah and the rainbow in Genesis 8-9 that stood out to me in my time in the Word. And here's what the Lord showed me. Every time I see I rainbow I need to stop and say, "Lord, this is the proof of your promise. You keep Your promises."

Yes, because God put the rainbow in the sky to say that He will never again destroy the earth as He did in the days of Noah —

Then God said, "I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come. I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth." Then God said to Noah, "Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth."

Genesis 9:12-17

The rainbow in the clouds has a profound meaning for us. God keeps His Word. His rainbow is the proof of His promise.

Always remember the words of Peter: "And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises" (2 Peter 1:4-5).

God's promises are a blessed gift.

Then, always remember the power of God's Word. "The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8 NLT).

You need to know today, dear friend, that God keeps His promises, every single one of them.

So when you see a rainbow, know that it is the proof — God keeps His promises to you.

Lord, thank You for Your magnificent promises and the reminder of them with beautiful rainbows in the midst of storms. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings ♡ Grace
