Have you ever wished you could sit down and have a talk with the Lord? It's an overwhelming desire to have a longing for fellowship with Him — just to hear His voice and listen to what He has to say to you in your present situation.
What we don't realize and often miss is that God has spoken and is always speaking. In fact, when we open His Word, we are coming in contact with the irresistible voice of God. God is speaking in His Word and has a specific purpose with what He says for you in your life today.
One of my very favorite promises about God speaking with great purpose is found in Isaiah 55:10-11 —
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11
Here we see that God's Word comes from His mouth. His irresistible voice sends forth His Word with intention to accomplish something powerful in your life. He is calling out to you, dear friend. He has something to say to you. Will you open His Word and hear Him speak to you today?
On a spectacular Bill Fortney His Light Workshops Photo Shoot, I stood out in the grandeur of God's creation just before dawn with a group of highly skilled photographers surrounded by the mountains at Many Glacier in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. We all had our cameras steadied on tripods waiting for the sun to make its first appearance of the day. The fluffy clouds were primed and ready and waiting for the intense glow that would light up the sky. We were waiting as well, hoping to capture the first light there in what has come to be known to professional photographers as the golden hour. We were not disappointed. Oh, how the sky exploded with fireworks of color!
As God calls to you and to me with His irresistible voice, when we turn aside to listen and to hear His words, our life lights up with the presence, power, and purpose of God Himself.
Will you hear Him today, dear friend? I encourage you to open your Bible and sit with the Lord for awhile to hear all He has to say to you. Hearing God's voice will transform your life forever and help you grow in your intimate relationship with Him.
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Word and today I am listening for You to speak to me as I open Your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
