Soul Praise

A Walk In Grace

I stepped out into the glow of twilight to walk with my camera into a beautiful landscape of rolling hills, big sky, and lush vineyards. A busy week of speaking ministry travel and events had been refreshing, even exciting, yet had left me weary in need of rejuvenation.

And my heart was pressed with sorrow as I was missing my mother. I'm so happy that she is dancing in heaven, but I truly miss her every day. And then, I was rehearsing through things that were weighing on my mind causing anxiety to build within. I can't explain it except to say that sometimes there is a battle that goes on — what I call, the fight of faith. And in recent years, my faith has been tested and stretched in ways I could have never imagined.

Sometimes your soul is pressed down with sorrow and suffering and you need to just take a step back.

Why?

For perspective. Healing. Rest. Renewal.

Sometimes your soul just needs a fresh touch from the Lord.

How can you get it?

You step away for a break to walk more closely with God. Get out into the beauty of His creation and look for the touch of the Master's hand in His own handiwork, far above all the temporal things of here and now.

Open the pages of His Word, especially the Psalms, and pray the words back to the Lord.

What happens is that you will realize His greatness and glory. You will see the eternal nature of heaven and the temporal character of the things of earth.

The psalmist puts it this way —

Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.

Psalm 104:1-3 NIV

And the psalmist was able to say, "Praise the LORD, my soul."

As I walked with God out in the beauty at sunset, I saw Him paint the sky with glowing clouds and shades of orange and yellow. And then, the things of earth just seemed to turn to a silhouette as the real image was above, filled with such beauty.

Thank You Lord, for finding new ways to touch my heart with Your greatness and glory. My soul praises You today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings ♡ Grace
