Have you been feeling insignificant lately? Kind of lost in the crowd? Thinking no one notices or even cares?
Dear friend, never lose sight of what is true when your feelings seem to drag you down.
Oh yes, right then is the time to open your Bible and get a new view, a new perspective.
Your significance is determined by God Himself. Listen to what He says —
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son.
Ephesians 1:3-6 NLT
Selah (pause and think about that)!
I was on a myPhotoWalk strolling through one of my favorite gardens in Newport Beach CA, capturing images of all that I saw. And there were many beautiful flowers vying for my attention. But as I walked by this bush of many leaves, there was one little branch that seemed to just reach out to me. Why? Because the light was shining on it.
Oh dear friend, you are like that little branch of leaves because the Son shines on you and He makes you stand out. You are significant.
You see, it is God who makes you who you are and gives you significance. In my A Quiet Time Experience book, One Holy Passion — A Sacred Journey In Exodus To God's Amazing Love, I quote D.L. Moody who writes these words about Moses —
Moses spent forty years thinking he was somebody; then he spent forty years on the backside of the desert realizing he was nobody; finally, he spent the last forty years of his life learning what God can do with a nobody!
D.L. Moody
I love those words. You see, it is God who makes us, molds us, and mightily uses for His glory in this world. Our significance is all wrapped up in Him as He pours out His blessings and grace on us.
So today, be encouraged with all the blessings you have in Christ — every spiritual blessing.
Dear Lord, Thank You for defining who we are and giving us significance in a lost and hurting world. Thank you for blessing us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Thank you for the grace we need every moment of the day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
