Have you ever taken the time to think deeply about God at sunrise? … Recently I have been spending a lot of time out in the sunrise desert to capture the beauty of God creating a new day. Interestingly, sunrises are most beautiful when there are a myriad of clouds in the sky. Light makes a bold appearance in the dark of night.
On this particular day I saw so many clouds in the sky and rain was predicted later in the morning. So I knew it had the potential for a beautiful sunrise. I grabbed my cameras and drove out to my favorite spot in the desert looking to the east to watch God paint the sky. As the sun rose, shafts of light burst forth from behind the clouds. I captured images with two cameras at the same time, my Sony A6000 and Nikon D810. This image was one of my favorites because of the composition of clouds hanging low just above the desert mountains and landscape.
Every morning the sunrise is a new expression of the Lord's majesty.
With the dawning of a new day, always remember that the Lord also brings new things to you every morning. He promises. In Lamentations 3:22-23, God gives us a great promise —
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
This promise is like a spiritual sunrise breaking into our heart and soul in a new way each day. The New Living Translation says "His mercies begin afresh each morning" (Lamentations 3:23). I just love this promise so much for my own life. I need fresh mercy. Even today I need God's touch of fresh mercy.
And maybe you, like me, need God lovingkindness, compassion, and fresh mercy today.
If so, you have it. Because He promises that His mercies are new every morning. What this means is that even in the harshest environment, there is tenderness and compassion poured out on you from God Himself. None of us can escape the difficult elements of the environment of life. However not all of us know enough to draw near to God and drink in fresh mercy that combats every unkindness and difficulty found in people and things around us.
So today, dear friend, will you draw near to God and take in some of His amazing, fresh mercy? If so, you will find that you have enough hope to go on and face the day.
Dear Lord, I come to You now for fresh mercy. Thank You for your great faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
