So it was seemingly just another desert sunrise. But I can never really say "just another sunrise" and mean it because every sunrise in the desert is breathtaking and awesome. When God paints the sky and you actually look up to see Him at work with all the color and glow in the clouds, you discover you are standing on holy ground.
And that's the way it was the morning I captured this particular sunrise in Palm Desert CA with my Sony A6000 mirrorless camera. The Sony A6000 is has superb 24MP quality, fast hybrid autofocus, and is very portable. Add a Zeiss 16-70mm lens with superior Zeiss image quality and you're really in business. So when I viewed the sunrise images on my computer, one capture stood out to me because of the composition. The focus was on the light and clouds. I loved it and decided to make a photo artistry image to remind myself to look beyond the here and now all the way to heaven and eternal life.
I processed the raw image in Adobe Camera Raw, then brought it into Adobe Photoshop for added filters. I used my favorite Topaz Adjust to bring out the dynamic range. Then I added a edge–darkening vignette and a warming filter from ON1 Software. I still wanted something more to bring out the glow of the sunrise so I added a Rice Paper Texture Vignette from ON1 Software. Finally, I added the devotional text with the elegant Helvetica Neue font.
I pray that as you look at this sunrise in the desert you will remember to think about the things of heaven, not the things of the earth.
