I was driving home from a late afternoon appointment and took a favorite shortcut on a road where I often shoot photography for sunrises and sunsets.
As I drove I noticed a girl with her tripod and camera focused on the sun as it was setting. I turned and looked and saw why. The sun was amazingly beautiful.
I quickly got home, grabbed my cameras, and went back out to shoot as much of the sunrise as possible. It really was magnificent though I feel as though I missed some of the very best shots by about ten minutes. But the moral of the story is that even if you miss some of the experience, don't give up. Instead, make the most of what you can capture with your camera in the time you have.
So this was one of my favorite images. I processed it with Adobe Camera Raw and Topaz Adjust. Then, I added the Helvetica Neue words of Jesus in John 12:46 "I have come as a light to shine in this dark world." I love the truth of these words — that Jesus is light and brings light into my life so that I don't need to live in darkness.
So today, as you look at this sunset, remember that Jesus is the light of the world, and the light of your world.
Dear Lord, thank You for lighting up my world today and for being the light of the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
