Where do you live your life? In the world or in the Lord? I have been thinking a lot about that question these days.
A number of years ago, I captured this image of the Tuscan countryside from a terrace atop the Boboli Gardens, adjacent to the famous art galleries of the Pitti Palace on a myPhotoWalk photo shoot in Florence, Italy. I remember leaning over the stucco wall, trying not to lose my balance, to get the best perspective of the distant villa. For me, there is nothing that compares to these beautiful landscapes in Italy. Everything makes for amazing images because the scenery is just so incredibly lush. I especially love the cottages and red-tiled villas that seem like movie sets and I can't help but imagine what it must be like to live there. To abide there.
Jesus invites us to an intimate relationship with His words, "Abide in Me and I in you" (John 15:4). He is asking us to live with Him in intimate communion every moment of our lives. I like how these words are translated in the Amplified version, "Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.]"
When Jesus asks us to abide in Him, He is talking about where we dwell and where we live.
I wanted to make a myPhotoWalk Photo Artistry image to help us all remember to live in Christ, not in the world. I processed this image in Adobe Photoshop, then added some special RadLab, ON1, and Topaz filters to bring out the beautiful colors from the raw image. Finally, I added the Helvetica Neue verse and the special poster style word we want to remember that is the Lord's invitation — abide.
So, dear friend, always remember to abide in Christ, living in Him and not the world.
Dear Lord, thank You for loving us and desiring intimate communion every moment of our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
