Do you long to have a fruitful life? Do you want your life to count for eternity? C.T. Studd wrote, "Only one life 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last."
The secret to fruitful living is being controlled and empowered by the Holy Spirit. You cannot live for Christ, and love and serve Him in your own strength.
To be filled with the Spirit one must "breathe spiritually," as Bill Bright, co-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ taught throughout his own lifetime. You exhale by confessing your sin and surrendering to Christ (1 John 1:9, Romans 12:1). Then you inhale by asking the Lord to fill you with His Spirit (Ephesians 5:18, 1 John 5:14-15).
The result will be the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Paul describes it this way —
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives.
Ephesians 5:22-25 NLT
So dear friend, be filled with the Spirit today, and enjoy the blessing of a fruitful life.
Dear Lord, today we ask that you will fill us with the Spirit and show us how to follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
