Patient Waiting On God

A Walk In Grace

I was really hoping for an awesome sunrise. I searched out of the bank of windows from our family room. Frankly, it didn't look like much. No fluffy clouds, a hazy sky, no real hint of glow yet. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. "This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it," I reminded myself (Psalm 118:24). I am grateful for another day from the Lord, even without a great photographic opportunity.

Surprise? About ten minutes later, I noticed just a hint of a pink glow on the horizon. Then I thought, Maybe?.

So I grabbed my Sony A6000 Mirrorless with the Zeiss 16-70mm lens that makes everything sing when I capture images. I got in my car and went out to my favorite place near my home in Palm Desert, CA, where I love to shoot sunrises to the east. I captured a few images, but, alas, it was just kind of bland, and not much was happening. The sky was a faint blue but there was very little glow and it seemed hazy outside.

So what did I do? I went to Starbucks, got some of my favorite coffee, and I got back in my car to drive home.

Surprise!

But then I saw it! Yes "it!" The glow. It was happening right now, not according to when I had thought, but when God designed. So I drove quickly back to my photo location, and jumped out of the car. The sun was now a glowing ball of fire. It was a view that is very rare out here, especially in late Fall. But God was painting things in a new and incredible way. What He did on this morning was take the sun and make it its appearance special and awesome.

What did I learn? This special morning of photography was such a great reminder that sometimes when you think all is over and done, God is just beginning to write a new chapter in your life. We can never give up. There just may be a perfect sunrise waiting for you that God is painting into your life.

The psalmist learned to wait on the Lord. May these words fill our heart with hope today —

I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.

Psalm 130:5-6

We need to patiently wait on God and realize that His timing is perfect. Even if the trial has gone on seemingly long enough, God is never late.

So dear friend, today I pray that you and I will patiently wait on God for His sunrise in His time and in His way.

Lord, thank You for the sunrise You paint into the landscape of our lives. Give us the strength to patiently wait for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings ♡ Grace
